We won! and stopped DCC Highways causing more traffic chaos in Southernhay
We won! Sense prevailed at the HATOC committee voted not to waste £400,000 of tax payers money on 150m of road to the detriment of the motorist & business community. Let’s get Dryden Road reopened next – Time we reclaimed our streets for the majority not the minority
We all know that Exeter traffic is an issue already for residents & commuters alike. The latest crazy idea is to make Barnfield Road within Southernhay one way ‘IN ONLY’ for cars & motorcycles to ‘enhance’ the existing cycle route ( with its own traffic light already) & two pavements! It’s already often gridlock after the last crass idea of making it the access route to the two Princesshay car parks which routing is the main cause of the current issues esp. danger to pedestrians. Just imagine how hard it will be for emergency services to access or leave never mind misery it will cause those leaving Southernhay once one of the current 3 exit routes is removed. Commercially this will ‘kill off’ one of the last thriving areas. Are they trying to shut Exeter? Already one occupier has sited this proposal as one reason they are closing their Southernhay office after decades and leaving the city centre.
